Frank LeRoy Bird, Died July 14, 1991
Frank LeRoy Bird, 71, of 503 Court St., Ludington, died early Sunday morning at Memorial Medical Center, following a brief illness.Franl L. Bird was born June 14, 1920, in Shelby, moving to Fountain as a child. He attended Fountain and Scottville schools graduating from Scottville High School in 1938. He attended engineering school for six years after which he was employed by the Detroit Board of Education until his retirement in 1979.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in England, North Africa and Sicily. He was married in Bachelor Evangelical Church to Nina Virginia Aumock and she survives. THe couple moved to Ludington after his retirement.
He was a member of the Ludington Lodge No. 736, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Ludington Outboard Club. He was active in Boy Scouts for many years and director of the Zephyrhills, Fla., Tourist Club fo many years. He was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Helen) McKay, Westland; two sons, Raymond (and Glenna) Bird, Saline; and Frank Bird, Westland; six grandchildren; two sisters, Leone Benedict, Ludington; and Mrs. Lloyd (Florence) Griffith, Six Lake; one brother, Bill (and Yvonne) Michael, Ludington; nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Bird were read this morning at the Dorrell Funeral Home chapel. Interment was in Bachelor Cemetery.
