POSTMA -- Martin Postma Sr., aged 65, of 786 68th St. SE, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening at his residence. He was a native, and lived his entire life in Gaines Township and for 28 years was an employee of the Kent County Road Commission; the last 20 years of the Caledonia Division Garage. For many years he was custodian of the Good News Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ida; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Ida) Bowyer, Mrs. Duane (Martha) Wilson; five sons, Henry C., Martin J., Kenneth D., and David L., Joseph Postma and one son-in-law, Norman Hall; 29 grandchildren; four brothers, Sibrant, Jacob, Peter, Charles Postma; two sisters, Mrs. Richard Weaver and Mrs. William Slager and several nieces and nephews, all of the Grand Rapids area. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Good News Baptist Church, 68th St. and Eastern Ave., with Rev. Edwin A. DuBois officiating. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery. Mr. Postma reposes at the Vanderpool Chapel of Goodwin Heights, 3131 S. Division Ave., where relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
