Joseph E. Wilson, 80, Retired Farmer, Dies

Joseph E. Wilson, 80, a retired Ottawa county farmer, suffered a fatal heart attack late Thursday afternoon while visiting a friend and was pronounced dead on arrival at Butterworth hospital. Dr. Richard C. Boelkins, medical examiner, investigated.

Police reported Mr. Wilson, who lived at 416 Third Street., NW, was visiting Martin Schwartz, 1243 Plainfield av., NE, when he collapsed.

Mr. Wilson was born in Ottawa county and farmed there until about 30 years ago, when he moved to Grand Rapids.

He leaves four sons, Lawrence A., Clifford L., Joseph E., jr., and Fletcher M; a daughter, Mrs. George A. Cree; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at the VanStrien-Alman chapel at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial gardens.

WILSON -- Joseph E. Wilson, aged 80, of 416 Third St. NW., passed awaysuddenly Thursday evening at Butterworth Hospital. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. George Andrew Cree; four sons, Clifford L., Joseph E. Wilson, Jr., Lawrence A. and Fletcher M. Wilson, all of Grand Rapids; fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mr. Wilson reposes at the VanStrien-Alman Funeral Home, where services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
