Rebecca died young in 1893, according to findagrave. John quickly remaried to Nellie Myers.

I want to believe that the parents of John W. Barton are Silas Ransom Barton and Harriet Wolcott. They had a son named John W. Barton who was born around the same time as our John W. Barton. However, a family bible entry shows this John dying 8 Jul 1883. This matches up with a gravestone of a John W. Barton with the same death date, aged 34 years, in Millerboro Cemetery in Antelope County, Nebraska.
Silas Ransom Barton Jr. is also buried in another cemetery in the same county.
The internet seems to think that this JW Barton is the son of Silas Ransom Sr, which makes me think that this isn't the parents of our JW Barton, as he was alive at least until 1900.
Which leaves me with no clues as to who the parents of our JW Barton were.
